Previously, students who completed a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) of 30 weeks and then transitioned to a Master’s degree were not always eligible for a PSW visa if their Master’s program did not meet the required duration.
This has now changed. Students who successfully complete a 30-week PGDip and immediately commence a Master’s degree will now be eligible to apply for a PSW visa based on their successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma.
This policy adjustment aims to provide greater flexibility for students pursuing higher education pathways in New Zealand while ensuring they have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the country following their studies.
Australia

Italy
The Italian government has recently introduced a significant change to its visa application process for international students. Effective January 10, 2025, all Indian applicants seeking a Type D visa, which is required for long-term stays exceeding 90 days, will now be required to schedule individual appointments at Italian consulates for fingerprinting. This new measure applies to students pursuing both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Italy.
This development follows a significant policy shift implemented a year prior, allowing Indian students to remain in Italy for an additional 12 months after completing their degrees.
